Tattooing with conventional tattoo needles is a tried and tested way. Working with cartridges is more modern and comfortable. They were invented by MT Derm/Cheyenne and are considered the discovery of this time in the tattoo industry, along with the invention of tattoopens and battery-operated tattoo machines. Flat needle:
Perfect needle type for colorpacking or shading. They are soldered in a straight line on the needle bar.

Liner needle:
The tips of the liner needles are soldered all around. This gives you precise lines.

Magnum needle:
Magnum needles can be used to shade anything. They are designed to absorb and release a lot of color. Colorpacking and shading are the most fun with this type of needle. It is also less traumatic to the skin, as a lot of color is worked into the skin in just a few passes.

Round Shader Needle:
The tips of the needles are further apart than liner needles, so you can draw thicker lines with them and use them for filling and simple shading.

Soft Edge Magnum Needle:
Soft edge needles, unlike magnum needles, have the side needles slightly offset to create a half moon shape. In contrast to the Magnum needles, this arrangement of tattoo needles has the advantage that it is easier to produce "soft shadings". In addition, the skin is less traumatized during the tattooing process.

Some questions we often get asked:

Can I use all cartridges for my Tattoopen?
Basically yes - the needle modules or cartridges are all similar in design. The principle of fastening in the machine is the same for almost all cartridges. Please check in our shop if the manufacturer of your favorite tattoo machine recommends cartridges of a certain manufacturer. MT Derm/Cheyenne, for example, asks you to use their tattoo machines only with the original needle modules from MT Derm/Cheyenne, otherwise the warranty will expire.

What is the difference between normal Magnum needles and Softedge Magnum tattoo needles?
With the Softedge needles, the lateral needles are slightly offset so that a half-moon shape is created. The advantage of this arrangement of tattoo needles compared to the normal Magnum needles is that it is easier to create "soft shadings". In addition, the skin is less traumatized during the tattooing process.

What does textured or bugpin mean?
The textured tattoo needle or bugpin is minimally roughened. Due to this feature, it transports more color. Above all, the textured tattoo needle is often used for very fluid ink.
