More information about grips and tips from Tattoosafe:
Like tattoo machines and tattoo needles, there are preferences for each tattoo artist when it comes to grips and tips. The use of appropriate grips depends strongly on the machine. A Cheyenne Hawk, for example, complements beautifully with a corresponding Cheyenne Hawk grip in 21 or 25 mm made of aluminium, the Hawk grip as a flex grip with or without needle bar in 21 and 25.4 mm or the Cheyenne Hawk Fixed grip made of aluminium, which works without stitch depth adjustment. The selection continues: grips from EGO were specially designed for use with Cheyenne machines and Bishop Rotary joins in with the Fantom Tubes made of aluminium in grip thicknesses of 1 and 1.25 inches. Test yourself and find your tattoo grip!
Generally, there are either disposable or reusable products made of plastic, aluminium or stainless steel. Grips as reusable products can be cleaned in an autoclave - the manufacturers Morphix and Right Stuff are certainly interesting for you here. Morphix products should only be steam sterilized up to 135 degrees. For those who don't want to do this work, there are many different disposable grips to choose from. Our filter menu provides a quick overview. There you can directly select the manufacturer, the price and the design.
You can order disposable grips from TATFORMANCE, MT Derm/Cheyenne, Inkjecta, EGO and Elephant.
TATFORMANCE grips and tips, Made in Berlin, are popular for the grippy rubber which makes the tattoo machine fit securely in your hand. Available in the sizes 25 mm and 30 mm and always with punched abbreviation of the configuration, so that no confusion can take place. Thanks to the transparent tip, you always have a good overview of the amount of tattoo ink contained. The tips are available as diamond tip, round tip and flat tip.
Inkjecta grips are available for disposable and reusable application. For the Inkjecta Flite X1, the disposable Inkjecta X1 Disposable Ergo grips bring color to your studio - available in packs of 10 and compatible with all needle modules. You can find the reusable counterpart in our shop named Inkjecta X1 Ergo grip in the versions Black Ally, Black Delrin and White Delrin. The round shaped Chubby grip and the Fixed grip V2 by Inkjecta - made of aluminium or stainless steel - are also compatible with all tattoo needle modules and due to the existing end tube suitable for many rotary or coil machines. Are you looking for Inkjecta grip covers? The Australians are offering two models, the Rubber grip cover - available in a double pack - and the heavy grip cover made of stainless steel for the Cheyenne Hawk 21 mm grip, both of which are autoclavable.
Elephant Tattoo Products is entering the market with two foam grips in grip thicknesses of 1 and 1.5 inches. They are very soft and offer the perfect grip. Always equipped with needle bar and compatible with all needle modules. Elephant is a supplier of highest quality tattoo accessories. You will find many products for the work in your studio in the category hygiene and care or tattoo accessories. The biodegradable products machine bags, clipcord sleeves, washbootle bags and pen covers fit into this time. Within one year, the materials are completely degraded in the soil to water and carbon dioxide.
EGO has developed disposable grips and tubes for Cheyenne Hawk machines. The EGO Hawkflow grip or tube for the Cheyenne Hawk is a disposable product in an ergonomic shape made of soft plastic. While the tube is equipped with an end tube, the EGO Hawkflow grip has a rotating mechanism for adjusting the stitch depth - EGO is a pioneer in the tattoo market with this adjustment mechanism.
We always prefer sustainability when it comes to tattoo accessories! With the Flatiron and Humbold grips from Morphix, you acquire models that can be autoclaved with steam at a maximum of 135 degrees. They are made of a glass fibre reinforced composite material. The Americans offer you equipment that is ergonomically shaped and designed to reduce finger fatigue.
Right Stuff grips are top quality made from steel and aluminium and are also designed for reusable use. Choose between the Right Stuff Hornet grip in 28mm and 32mm and the Right Stuff cartridge needle module Flex grip in 25mm and 32mm.
Some questions we often get asked:
Can the Cheyenne grips be placed in an instrument disinfection bath or autoclave (steam sterilizer)?
No, absolutely not. The grips may only be cleaned with a wipe and disinfectant. You will find detailed instructions on the package insert or on the MT Derm/Cheyenne website.
Can I also use my round liner tattoo needle with diamond grips or tips?
Yes, you can. Some tattoo artists even prefer the diamond version, as the needle supposedly lies a little cleaner in the V-shape. Also, the tips are slightly bevelled at the front, so you have a good view of the needle while tattooing.
What is the difference between a Flex and a Fix grip?
With the Flex grip, you can adjust the needle position easily and individually on the grip. Simply turn the grip. A fixed grip simply has to be loosened on the machine itself in order to adjust the needle position.
