Founded in 2005, the company is based in the US state of Nevada, more precisely in Reno, also called "The Biggest little city in the world". Critical is proud to say that the majority of its products are manufactured directly on location in Northern Nevada. By developing and manufacturing in-house with a complete development lab, machine shop, electronics assembly and graphic design studio, the environmentally damaging sourcing from overseas can be kept to an absolute minimum.

No frills
"No frills, just power." This maxim applies to Critical's products in general, but especially to the MNML power supply. Critical Tattoo's MNML provides constant voltage in its simplest and most reliable form. The wide voltage range of 1.5-17 volts is easily adjusted with a rotary control. It has a single-channel machine output, a footswitch connection and a non-slip silicone base which, together with four built-in magnets, guarantees an unshakeable grip on any metallic surface. The MNML's compact and robust plastic housing ensures durability. Thanks to its easy stowage, the power supply can be conveniently taken along on your journey to the tattoo convention or to your next gig as a guest tattoo artist.

The CX-1-G2 power supply from Critical Tattoo is the smallest power supply for tattoo artists on the market, but still a digital power supply in a class of its own: precisely adjustable in 0.1 volt steps, with memory presetting for two machines, e.g. liner and shader, and foot switch override (pedal override).
The Critical XR series: everything at a glance
With its robust, CNC-machined billet aluminium housing, the Critical XR is the perfect choice. It offers a touch interface on a full-color TFT display with large, easy-to-read fonts. You can adjust the color of the display according to your wishes. There is also the override function, which makes the foot switch superfluous if required, and a jump start function. The jump start function and retained pedal modes can be independently assigned to the preset/output buttons, and the memory remembers voltage presets with 2, 4 or 6 machine memory modes. Another extra is the session timer, which you can set to session mode, runtime mode or hybrid mode based on the hourly rate you set. High quality 1/4" jacks from Amphenol ensure better power transmission and longer life. A holder design allows for more flexibility in mounting.
The Critical XR-D is also equipped with all the great features of the XR, but also has a built-in oscilloscope for a visual approach to coil machine tuning.

Superduo No. 1: The Critical XRR/CXP19 Bundle
Finally, all the advantages of the Critical XR series can also be found in the Critical XRR power supply unit. It is also operated via a capacitive user interface that can easily be covered hygienically. The display with easy-to-read lettering and user-definable color themes also shows volts, amps, speed, duty cycle and settling time and can also record the duration of the tattoo session along with the hourly rate. Two independent inputs and up to six different voltage presets make it easy to switch between different machines. Independently, jump start function and pedal modes can be assigned to the preset buttons.
While the Critical XRR power supply also accepts standard 1.4-inch clip cord and foot pedal connections, it is perfectly matched by Critical's CXP19 foot pedal, which connects wirelessly to the one on the XRR. It has improved shielding to prevent debris ingress and is more responsive than other pedals with a central switch on multiple contact springs. A non-slip rubber base prevents the pedal from moving while tattooing.

The Critical Atom power supply unit: A colourful round thing
Round Critical Atom power supply has a feature that is as playful as it is revealing: it changes color depending on the voltage at which the machine is operating. Handling the Critical Atom is a snap: voltage values as well as switching between continuous and pulse operation, everything is controlled with a single push/turn switch. No pedal is required to operate the power supply, which is compatible with all coil and rotary machines. Built-in magnets and non-slip silicone on the base allow for non-slip use on a variety of surfaces.
With the Critical Atom X, in addition to voltage indication by color, you'll also find a traditional display that tells you the exact voltage. The Atom X from Critical Tattoo also impresses with its modern overlay design in the colors rose gold/white, rose gold/black or black/black.
A further development of the Atom X is the Critical Atom X-R with its modern overlay design, a small, user-friendly power supply unit that has all the great functions of its predecessor and a few more. Of course, you will also find the unique voltage display by color change here, as well as the conventional display for voltage indication. Short-circuit protection and a non-volatile memory that maintains presets when the power supply to the unit is interrupted provide additional safety at work. The Atom X-R offers you two outputs, so you can connect two machines at once, whether they are rotary or coil machines. Thanks to the pedal override mode, you can use the Atom X-R with or without a foot pedal; when using the foot pedal, you can choose between variable and continuous mode. In addition, there is the option of wireless synchronization of the power supply with the CXP19 foot pedal (already presented above, available separately).
The small, attractively round power supplies of the Critical Atom series are real gems - and therefore particularly well suited for PMU studios.

For fans of mobility, Critical has developed the Critical Universal Battery, a rechargeable power pack that turns your Rotary into a cordless powerhouse and gives you (depending on your machine and the voltage used) up to 10 hours of complete freedom of movement when tattooing. The battery is available with RCA/Cinch and/or 3.5 mm connection for MT DERM/Cheyenne. It demonstrates style through a balanced design with an ergonomic, intuitive user interface and has a Critical Core that ensures constant and stable voltage output.
